I decided last night that I would not seek election to the BOA for Social Sciences in the pending by-election.
The reasons are many, but include:
- I cannot commit to enough Sundays this coming year
- if I run I would not be able to cover the by-elections, and if I don’t, who will?
- If I sit on BOA, I cannot provide the same coverage of BOA workings
- I can still impact the Board without having a seat. While I may not hold a vote, I can still wield some power.
- I do not believe that the nomination period should have been re-opened, and if I was to win, but one of the candidates I originally supported finished 7th, I would feel terrible.
As well, I will not seek a spot on the PIDSSA executive either, whose nomination period open today! Nom forms are available at http://elections.pidssa.ca.
For those who are interested in running for BOA Social Science remember that your nomination forms are due in the SFUO Office by 5pm today!

Will you be covering the PIDSSA elections as well as the BOA elections?
Cause, that would be sweet-tods
I was planning to!
I’m upset that you’re not running but I’m also a little happy since I would have nothing to keep me entertained over the coming weeks!
PS. I’m excited to see that you’re covering PIDSSA elections – looks like this year, all races will be heavily contested.
Let’s get ready to rummmbleeeee.
